Em 1954, através do território do Baixo Alentejo
em Portugal, os ventos de rebeldia são sentidos.
Pias é o epicentro de tais atitudes rebeldes,
tomadas contra o regime ditatorial fascista de Salazar.
No meio dos confrontos (visíveis ou dedutíveis),
quinze jovens vêem seu futuro abalado quando recebem a ordem de que devem
partir o mais rápido possível para a distante Índia.
Abandonados à sua própria sorte, jovens
agricultores na sua maioria, sapateiros ou mecânicos, eles eram meros peões
num jogo que não era o deles.
Estas são algumas das lembranças daqueles homens
simples, o que vislumbraram na Índia com os seus próprios olhos, relatos das
suas famílias ou as suas fotos.
In
1954, through Portugal's Lower Alentejo territory, the rebellious winds are
felt. Pias is the epicenter of such rebellious attitudes, taken against the
fascist dictatorial regime of Salazar. In the middle of the confrontations
(visible or deductible), fifteen young men see their future shaken when they
receive the order that they must depart as soon as possible to faraway India.
Abandoned
at their own fate, young farmers mostly, shoe makers or mechanics, they were
mere pawns in a game that was not theirs.
These
are some of the memories from those simple men, India seen through their own
eyes, their families or their pictures.
